Festive Outfit Planner: Navratri to Diwali
October to November is one long celebration. Plan once, stitch early, and enjoy every function without the last-minute rush.
Navratri: nine days, nine colours
Each day of Navratri has its own colour — yellow, green, grey, orange, white, red, royal blue, pink and purple. Comfortable cotton or cotton-blend suits work best for long evenings of garba; keep jewellery light so you can dance. Get suits stitched at least two weeks ahead — tailors are busiest right before the festival.
Dussehra
A bright chanderi suit in red or orange with gold-tone jewellery.
Karva Chauth
Red, maroon or pink, often a heavier suit or saree, and a full three-piece set for the evening puja.
Diwali
Satin, silk or chanderi in deep jewel colours — emerald, wine, royal blue — with a statement necklace. Choose something you can sit comfortably in for the Lakshmi puja.
Your planner checklist
- List every function and its date.
- Pick fabric by the function: cotton for long dancing nights, chanderi for day events, satin for evening parties.
- Order unstitched dress materials 3–4 weeks before the first function.
- Match one jewellery set to two outfits to save money.
